STEPHANIE BRITT – Bio/CV
Southwest, Pacific Northwest and Hawaii Fine Artist
Stephanie Britt graduated from both Middle Georgia State University (Fine Art) and Ringling College of Art & Design as an Illustrator, and has pursued her ambition of fine art painting for the past twenty years, first in Hawaii and recently in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Her style has been described as abstract realism influenced by analytical cubism.
Britt’s interest in abstract art began while studying painting, color and design at the Ringling College of Art and Design with Professor Bruce Gregory, a student of famed French cubist Fernand Leger. This introduction opened the door to further interest and study of other influential artists and movements of the time including Braque, Mondrian, Cezanne, Cubism and Futurism.
Although different stylistically, later studies with contemporary figurative artist Zhaoming Wu and noted portrait artist Daniel Greene further influenced Stephanie’s work.
In addition to exhibiting in galleries (Freeman Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico and -until recently- Palms Gallery/Kalakoa Fine Art Kauai), she also taught fine art instruction both privately and in the University of Hawaii System/Kauai Branch as well as at Whatcom Community College in Bellingham Washington.
Her works hang in private and corporate collections from Hawaii to Kazakhstan and across the US, and have been shown in Selected Group Exhibitions and Juried Shows since 2007, including the annual Joshua Tree National Park Juried Art Exhibition (JTNP), where she won First Place for her painting, “Sentinels of the Lost Oasis” in 2022. Recently, “The Long Shadows” received Second Place in both the JTNP 2023 Show, as well as American Women Artists’ 2023 Online Juried Show (Outstanding Achievement for Landscape Award). “Blue 2” was selected as 2023 Best in Show from the Contemporary Artists of Southwest Arizona (CASA), and her 2024 painting, “Still Standing”, was just juried into the American Women Artists’ “Expanding Horizons” Show and will hang in the Loveland, Colorado Museum until December 2024.
